I’m on a whatapp group chat that discusses weight loss related things. Someone recently was in despair over her failure to follow the program while thinking the rest of us are so consistently focused and determined. Many of us weighed in 😂 on the topic. We assured her that although we post primarily to encourage others and ourselves, we all falter. One sage response (thanks Chaya) was noteworthy: We ALL fail at different times- we just don’t call it failure, we call it LEARNING.
I thought this was such an important reminder to my readers and to MYSELF. I may sometimes sound like I have it all together-mindful this and balanced that. Often I’m preaching to myself to rein it in! I weighed in today up 2.4 pounds since last week. Yes, we’ve been blessed with tons of holidays and still have a few more before the eating returns to normal. But seriously, after all these years I should be able to get through these holidays without a gain. But, instead of beating myself up, I went to face the music and ‘reset’ my mindset. Will it work? Will I be up another few pounds by next Friday? I don’t know. I hope not and I hope I’ll eat with that in mind. But labeling my actions as a failure will hurt no one but me. So, I’m in LEARNING mode. I’m learning from past behaviors what helps and doesn’t help, what works and doesn’t work.
I hope when you falter you turn on the learning mode attitude as well!
Forever learning,
Miriam
PS the picture of my roasted carrots isn’t really related but oh so pretty
