This time of year many of us are focused on getting ready for Passover. As part of our preparation we are cleaning our kitchens and using up food from our fridge, freezer and pantry to make room for the holiday food. So here is my message to you and to MYSELF: Don’t become the garbage can! Sometimes I find it so hard to throw away food. But, if it’s not worth eating it, then I should gift it to someone who will enjoy it or THROW it away. I know the guilt many of us have that messes with us over throwing out food. But I have to keep reminding myself that I don’t have to act as the garbage can! That’s not going to get me to my goals.
By all means if it’s something you really want, plan it into your day and eat it and mindfully enjoy. But don’t just finish it because it’s there and no one else wants it.
I am better than a garbage can and you are too!
